Nancy Martin

Nancy Martin began the study of art at the age of 11 at the Virginia Museum of Art in Richmond, Virginia; and she continued until high school when she chose to specialize in commercial art at Thomas Jefferson. She then earned her certification in Fashion Design and Illustration at William and Mary Institute of Art. Nancy continued her education informally by touring museums in Europe and attending workshops in both the United States and Mexico. These workshops were offered by renowned artists such as: Richard Hull, John Sibley, Bud Biggs, Reese Kennedy, Milford Jones, Erenie Herring, Larry Weston, Ron Ranson, Kathleen Cook, Ben Konas, Bruce Green and Martin Grelle.

Mrs. Martin entered the advertising field after college and began at the Dan Linsey Ad Agency in Richmond, Virginia. Her freelance advertising work has been published in New York, Florida, Arkansas, and Texas. In Little Rock, Arkansas, Nancy was the Finished Art Director for Dillard's Department Stores; and did commissioned pen and ink drawings for Mr. Dillard's office for each department store in the chain.

The State of Virginia hired Nancy to teach art classes for the rural school districts of Hanover County; and she taught private lessons in Virginia, New York, Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. Nancy also taught at the Richardson Women's Club, and she previously owned the Blue Bird Art Gallery on Lake Texoma. She is currently a member of the Kerrville Arts and Cultural Center and the Kerrville Art Club.

Nancy Martin has been a respected member of the Fredericksburg Art Guild for many years; and she is best known throughout the United States and Europe for her portraits of people’s loved ones and of all varieties of pets and animals. She also incorporates a number of Native American themes and subjects in many of her best paintings. She now resides in the area of Ingram, Texas.
