I have been interested in art all my life. The main things
that I can remember about elementary school are all the cool pictures
that I was allowed to draw. When I graduated from high school, I
enrolled in college studying fine arts. Alas, marriage, two children
and moving all over the world got in the way.
After being born in Texas, raised on the Mexican border in
McAllen, living in the bayou country below New Orleans for 3 years, 5
years in Peru, and over 30 years in Alaska, I have collected thousands
of scenes that I want to paint.

I finally did finish college in my early forties, but not in Fine
Arts as I had wanted, but in Elementary Education with an emphasis in
Art. I taught Art for one year, but found I liked teaching the little
ones to read and write much more exciting.
During my teaching career I also had a pottery studio for almost
ten years. I loved throwing pots, but it didn't love me. A serious case
of asthma forced me to go back to two deminsional arts. I concentrated
on drawing and later, watercolor.

Since I have retired and returned to Texas, I have had time to
concentrate on me art and have studied digital photography and computer
manipulation of both photographs and scanned original art. I hope to
soon include acrylic and pastel work in my repertoire.
The Fredericksburg Art Guild is a wonderful, supportive group of
people who encourage each other in exploring their potential. I am glad
to be a part of such an organization and look forward to expanding my
skills and fulfilling all those dreams of interpreting my life's
experiences through the medium of art.
